Voters Want Border, Immigration Solutions

Following a debate during which immigration came up repeatedly, the fact remains: Americans prefer political candidates who focus on border and immigration solutions rather than employ negative rhetoric about immigrants, representing American voters’ values on immigration.

Among 1,000 registered voters in an August poll, 67% said they’d prefer the “solutions” candidate, compared with 18% support for a candidate “who uses dehumanizing language against immigrants.”

“Americans do not want chaos and divisiveness on an issue that calls for solutions,” said Jennie Murray, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum. “Voters strongly prefer candidates who talk about border and immigration solutions over those who use dehumanizing language against immigrants.

“In that light, leaders must come to this conversation ready to find solutions that honor our values and elevate both security and compassion.”
