Legal Immigration Naturalization

The National Immigration Forum and the New Americans Campaign proudly presents a new tool: the USCIS Revenue Calculator for fiscal year (FY) 2017.

This tool allows you to understand the impact of increases or decreases to the naturalization fee or any other fee USCIS charges.

How does this is work?

By changing the fee in the “Interactive Fee Level” column, you can determine whether this change would result in a revenue surplus or deficit. If you find that you have a revenue deficit, you can increase other fees to close that deficit.

For example, by switching the amount of the fees for the form N-400 (Naturalization Application) and form I-90 (Renew/Replace Permanent Resident Cards) a surplus of $22 million for USCIS results and by reducing the fee for the form N-400 (Naturalization Application) by $100 a $57.1 million deficit results.

Where is the data from?

The data in the spreadsheet, including the number of projected applications by form and estimated fee waivers, are based on the information in the USCIS Fee Schedule released on May 4, 2016. The tool consists of three tabs: (1) the first tab covers the Fiscal Year (FY)17 Immigration Examination Fee Account Revenue, (2) the second tab covers the FY17 Immigration Examination Fee Account Expenses, and (3) the third tab covers the FY17 Immigration Examination Fee Account Revenue from Temporary Programs, such as DACA (USCIS does not include Temporary Programs as part of its Immigration Examination Fee Account Revenue because temporary programs can be stopped at any time).
