WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to personnel changes at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the following is a statement from Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum:
“Disassembling the Department of Homeland Security with no transition plan in place puts our national and border security at risk. It does not solve humanitarian challenges of migration or stem the root causes.
“Rather than sow chaos, the president should seek stable leadership at DHS from officials who will respect the Constitution and laws, including those that govern asylum. They must balance the rule of law with compassion.
“Such leaders can implement short- and long-term solutions to address migration. There is no evidence that we can enforce our way out of these challenges.”
