WASHINGTON, D.C. — The following is a statement from Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum, in response to reports of President Trump’s inflammatory comments on border security:
“President Trump’s grotesque proposals, as reported, to ‘shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down’ and construct ‘a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators’ show that our president has neither an understanding of effective border solutions nor respect for the human lives of those seeking safety and opportunity.
“Proposing violent, draconian border measures is both logistically ridiculous and morally reprehensible. Sometimes, words are worth a thousand pictures.”
