LOS ANGELES —The City of Los Angeles and New American Workforce will hold a roundtable with local business leaders on Thursday on the importance of the role of business in citizenship and immigrant integration.
New American Workforce, a project of the National Immigration Forum, facilitates citizenship assistance by working with employers to offer a range of citizenship services and support to employees.
Last September, Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office challenged 25 businesses to partner with New American Workforce (previously the Bethlehem Project) and help 25,000 legal permanent residents learn about the opportunities citizenship provides and move forward with applying. Thursday’s roundtable will underscore the employer and employee benefits of citizenship services in the workforce, and reissue the call to encourage more businesses to join this work.
