New American Workforce has participated in several conferences over the past few months to share the innovative ways in which the program is working with businesses across the country to assist employees with citizenship services and English language training, at the worksite. One of the ways New American Workforce has partnered with these businesses is by collaborating with large retailers in New York, Miami and Houston to provide contextualized English language training to nearly 1,000 employees through Skills and Opportunity for the New American Workforce, helping them to unlock career pathways.
Recently, at the Metropolis North America Migration Policy Forum in the Washington D.C. area, New American Workforce presented on the project alongside Whole Foods Market, one of its retail partners. The Metropolis North America Policy Forum serves as a platform for dialogue about migration in the United States, Mexico and Canada. There, Elizabeth Lucadamo, Team Member Services Associate Coordinator at Whole Foods, shared the value that her company sees in participating in Skills and Opportunity for the New American Workforce.
She stated that she has watched many associates earn promotions through their participation, and that their morale has been boosted. This, in turn, translates into great customer service — a win-win for the company.
