Hunter Industries is an irrigation products manufacturing company that partners with New American Workforce in the San Diego area. Since 2014, the company has educated their 800 employees on the benefits of U.S. citizenship and invited them to on-site informational and legal assistance workshops to apply. Additionally, Hunter Industries provides an extra benefit to make the process even more affordable. They cover half of employees’ government application fee and then offer payroll deduction to help employees pay the other half. Hunter Industries’ citizenship assistance with New American Workforce has been featured on NPR, in the Times of San Diego and more.
Brandon Mesaros is one of many Hunter Industries employees to have applied for citizenship at his worksite. Brandon works in the Environmental Health and Stability department and is originally from Slovakia. He became a citizen last summer, after having lived in the U.S. as a green card holder for nearly 8 years. Brandon told us, “I am now an American citizen. The program was really helpful. It made it so much easier to go through the paperwork.”
