San Diego is a popular vacation destination with its miles of beautiful sandy beaches and numerous entertainment options. Part of these offerings include the large hotel and casino, Harrah’s Rincon of Caesar’s Entertainment, which provides its visitors with fine services, facilities and performances.
In addition to Harrah’s guest services, the hotel is known for being a dedicated employer and for providing unique benefits to its employees. In this spirit, Harrah’s has partnered with New American Workforce since 2016 with the aim of assisting its eligible employees with the United States citizenship process, right at the worksite.
Throughout this past year, Harrah’s has helped a number of eligible employees, including Hector Hung, one of the casino’s table dealers. Hector enjoys working at the casino and loves interacting with customers.
At the age of 19, Hector moved from Venezuela to the U.S. to study at Saint John’s University in New York. As a green card holder of 20 years, he has desired to become a citizen but was worried about the cost of applying and intimidated by the complicated process.
Luckily for Hector, Harrah’s partnered with New American Workforce and provided him with the necessary support and resources to pursue his citizenship. His employer was even generous enough to cover his citizenship fee, which made a huge difference in his ability to apply. After attending the citizenship workshops, Hector was able to fill out his application at this worksite. Reflecting on his overall experience, he emphasized,
“The workshops were so helpful! I hope Harrah’s will continue its partnership with New American Workforce so that my friends and co-workers can attend the workshops like I did.”
This past June 2018, Hector was thrilled to take his citizenship oath of allegiance and become a U.S. citizen! He is particularly excited to exercise his right to vote, participate in jury duty, and fully contribute at work and in his community.
