The math of immigration enforcement is clear – an enforcement-only approach to the immigration system simply does not add up. With President Trump requesting significant increases in the Department of Homeland Security’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget for immigration enforcement and Congress considering proposals to ramp up interior enforcement, the federal government is poised to spend more on immigration enforcement than ever before.
