Coalition Praises Bipartisan Efforts in Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Congresswomen Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Florida) and Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) unveiled a broad immigration reform bill.

The following is a joint statement from the nearly 40 members of the Alliance for a New Immigration Consensus (ANIC), a diverse group of faith, business, agriculture, education, national security, and advocacy organizations

“We applaud good-faith efforts among Republicans and Democrats to find border and immigration solutions. Solutions for border security, the asylum system, Dreamers, and American businesses and farmers continue to be urgent.

“We encourage leaders in Congress to be open to bipartisan border and immigration solutions. The American people have shown time and again that they support such solutions — including in polling this month, after the end of Title 42.

“These kinds of solutions would help bring order to the border and offer certainty to American businesses, farmers and communities.”

New polling indicates that even as the U.S. works to restore order at the border, more than 4 in 5 Americans — including 80% of Republican registered voters — support Republicans and Democrats working together on immigration reforms that address labor shortages and inflation, and protect people already here and contributing.
