WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today the Department of Homeland Security announced that it is extending, for six months, protections for Haitians who sought refuge in the U.S. following Haiti’s 2010 earthquake.

“We are glad the administration has extended Temporary Protected Status for Haitians in need of refuge,” said Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum. “We look forward to Secretary Kelly’s serious, substantial and fair review of conditions in Haiti between now and January.”
