WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to planned U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that could target migrant families in cities across the U.S. beginning this weekend, the following is a statement from Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum:

“Driving undocumented families further into the shadows is not just reprehensible, it is deeply detrimental to public safety. Local law enforcement cannot do its job when those it is sworn to protect are being driven into the shadows.

“We should be focusing our valuable law enforcement resources on public safety threats. These are the people preying on immigrants and citizens alike. Widespread ICE raids would damage our community safety — and our moral standing. America needs to be better than this.”
