Kurt Ver Beek

Kurt Ver Beek is the President and co-founder of the “Asociación para una Sociedad más Justa” or AJS-Honduras, AJS-US’s sister organization in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Kurt is also a professor of Sociology at Calvin College, where he has co-directed the Honduras semester program for the past 21 years. He graduated from Calvin College before pursuing a Master’s in Human Resources from Azusa Pacific University, and a Doctorate in Development Sociology from Cornell University. He and his wife, Jo Ann Van Engen, have called Honduras home for more than 30 years.
Keila Garcia
Director of Governance & Public Management
Association for a More Just Society – Honduras
Keila Garcia is AJS-Honduras’ Director of Governance and Public Management, overseeing technical studies into the efficiency and accountability of key Honduran government institutions. Keila previously served as the Coordinator of a transparency and public accountability project based on an agreement signed between AJS-Honduras, Transparency International, and the Honduran government. Prior to working at AJS-Honduras, Keila worked as Senior Research Analyst and Program Manager at Geneva Global Inc, an American Philanthropic Advisor based in Pennsylvania. Keila holds a Master’s Degree in Program Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Maribel Muñoz
Director of Programs
Association for a More Just Society – Honduras
Maribel Muñoz is AJS-Honduras’ Director of Programs. She has a degree in marketing, a Master’s in Business Management, a Master’s in International Cooperation, and is finishing her a doctorate in Public Management and Administration from the University of Madrid. She joined AJS in 2013 as a consultant investigating the purchase of medicines by the public health sector, exposing abuse of power and corruption, after which she was hired full-time to support the monitoring and evaluation of AJS projects.
