Tallent, Saenz and Mathis Join Forum Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. — Today the National Immigration Forum announced the appointment of three new board members: Becky Tallent, Rocio Sáenz and Jason Mathis.

“Our newly appointed board members will bring an ambitious vision, crucial leadership and valuable experience to our accomplished board of directors,” said Laura Reiff, board chair of the National Immigration Forum. “Their powerful combination of government, business and labor expertise continues to place the Forum among the premiere advocacy organizations in Washington, D.C.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Becky, Rocio and Jason to the National Immigration Forum board of directors,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum.  “In various capacities, we have enjoyed a long partnership with these leaders, and they join an extraordinary group from across the country. They bring breadth and depth of experience at this critical moment for immigrants in America.”

Becky Tallent is the Head of U.S. Government Relations at Dropbox. Before joining the team in January, Tallent worked for House Speaker John Boehner as his Assistant for Policy. She has spent majority of her career on Capitol Hill working for Sen. John McCain, serving as his Chief of Staff in 2012. Tallent also served as a Senior Policy Advisor on the McCain-Palin presidential campaign and traveling Domestic Policy Advisor for Gov. Palin.

Rocio Sáenz is a Service Employees International Union (SEIU) International Executive Vice President. Prior to her election in 2013 she headed the property services New England Local in Boston, which represents 18,000 workers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. An immigrant from Mexico, Sáenz has advocated for workers’ rights and community empowerment most of her adult life. She is the first Latina executive officer at SEIU and serves as one of the leading labor voices for Latino civic engagement and immigration reform.

Jason Mathis has served as the executive director of Salt Lake City’s Downtown Alliance and executive vice president of the Salt Lake Chamber since 2008. In this role, he oversees all aspects of Downtown Alliance programs, helping to build a dynamic and diverse downtown that is the regional center for culture, commerce and entertainment. He also helps to lead policy initiatives for immigration and urban development for the Salt Lake Chamber.
