Doctors Community Hospital: Employee Participant Testimonial

Doctors Community Hospital (DCH) has been partnering with New American Workforce for nearly a year and a half to help its eligible employees and their family members obtain citizenship. The hospital has offered education on the benefits of citizenship to over 1,500 employees through outreach to citizenship workshops. In addition to hosting citizenship information and application workshops at the worksite, DCH went the extra mile by providing a 16-week English/Civics course for employees to improve their language skills and prepare for the citizenship exam. Thanks to this assistance, many DCH employees have been able to start their citizenship process. Originally from Trinidad, Patricia Morris, a registered nurse at DCH, was able to learn about and apply for citizenship.

Patricia states, “It’s so easy because it’s right here at work. The process is very smooth and very professional. Citizenship means everything. I get to travel! But truly, voting. You can’t complain if you don’t have a voice to vote. I really want to get involved with voting locally for our school system and our community, anything to make it better.”
